Last week, I visited my EyeCandyTO business partner, Abe Wornovitzky‘s new condo at Adelaide and Sherbourne. I must admit that I was green with envy with the address. To me, having the culinary school, George Brown College to the north, St. Lawrence market to the south and the Distillery District to the east makes the neighbourhood a foodie haven. And like icing to the top, the condo is spacious and has a killer view from its balcony. And of course after talking some EyeCandyTO business, we had to check out the neighbourhood eats. The place that came immediately to mind was Schnitzel Queen.
Schnitzel Queen has always been in my radar for so long. I have heard of how this little space makes the biggest of perfectly executed schnitzels that I just had to try it myself. It was definitely another reason for me to be green with envy as it was just walking distance from Abe’s place. I opted for the Schnitzel King (with Roasted Bacon, Onions, Sauerkraut & Cheese) and Abe went for the Schnitzel Queen (with Sauerkraut, Potato Salad & Roasted Onions). The only thing that was a slight wrinkle to this food trip was that since we walked in late, they were out of potato salad. But good people that they are, they replaced the missing potato salad with a slice of their cheesecake. That seemed pretty much a good deal right there.
When the food arrived, my heart stopped with how massive the schnitzel was. If I stretched out the fingers of my hand, the length of my pinky to my thumb is how wide it was. It was definitely overwhelming given the reasonable price I paid for it. It was absolutely delicious, flavourful and moist yet I only managed to finish half of my sandwich because of its size. Everything in that sandwich definitely made sense.
Congratulations Abe for such a good find! Thank you for giving me more reason to visit your neighbourhood! :))
