Another discovery I made in Mimico is this indie cafe that definitely have real curb appeal. Take a look at the picture of how it looked from the street and you would understand why I had to make a stop at Birds and Beans. It stood out to me, with its elaborate murals and bright, vivid colors, floating beside the standard monotones of establishments right beside it. It somehow captured my imagination, the cafe promising me loads of character.

When I walked in, it was an instant love affair. The interiors was a merry collage of antiques with tons of rustic highlights. It was pretty obvious to me that the owners were fans of bird-watching, seeing the variety of art hanging on the walls. I didn’t have enough time so I only asked for a latte. I was especially happy that they have real ceramic cups. It makes the concoction seemingly even better than it already is. The coffee was really good. I was able to bring it outside where a patio had a view to a public park. There was something so relaxing sitting in the patio chair, enjoying thick warm suds of foam. If not for a dinner date, I would have not left that moment of calm. Such pleasures I do savour.
