This past past Monday, upon invitation of owner Sumit Kohli, I was back at The Kathi Rolls Express to try and what they have in store for their TKRE Butter Chicken Festival. I have been there before in summer when they showcased a popular Indian street food called kathi rolls. This time around, they made another successful fusion of Indian and Canadian comfort foods and these items would be featured at their Butter Chicken Festival on now until December 24th.
For the night, my EyeCandyTO partner, Abe Wornovitzky and I have enjoyed the three new items of TKRE. The first one served was a Butter chicken kathi roll. Just as I remembered, it was hearty roll with creamy and savoury wrapped inside grilled parantha a layer of scrambled egg. Second in line was the Butter Chicken Club Toastie. Chicken tikka, cheese omeletter, red and green bell peppers and a tangy masala with a side of chutney. Just think about all those things in one sandwich. Doesn’t it sound so good? It even tasted better! Third one to the festival was the traditional plate of Mumbai rice with butter chicken. So filling and comforting, we literally finished it until the last morsel. Of all the three, I was most impressed with the Butter Chicken Club toastie. I must say it was a very successful fusion of Indian and Canadian comfort foods. For our last taste, Sumit was indulgent to let me choose what I remembered best from the last time I was there. What I raved before was their take on grilled cheese which is the Mashed Aloo Grilled Sandwich. And just as the last time, it hit the right spot in my happy tummy.
So if you find yourself needing a break from shopping at the Yonge and Bloor area, swing by TKREToronto and check out their Butter Chicken Festival. I wouldn’t be surprised if you end up addicted to their food.
