Growing up, I always been around older cousins who loved cooking. Meals cooked from scratch was a regular comfort. With the good meals came lessons on what to cook, how to cook it and learning what makes it special. A lot of my cherished childhood memories revolved around family and food. I had a lot of great teachers around me that made me the foodie that I am today. I don’t usually write a post before an event but for this fund-raising event, I am making an exception. It would be my way to show gratitude to all the teachers I had when I was a kid. It is a way for me to thank them for the priceless life lessons.
Foodshare‘s annual Recipe for Change seeks to promote food literacy in schools. The fund-raising event channels funding towards school programs that would educate children on how to prepare and cook food and increase their interest in finding out how to produce food and what to make of it after what is palatable is consumed. All the lessons that these programs would teach would last a lifetime. It would be just like what I learned from my childhood and I still appreciate all of those lessons today.
