This past Monday night, renowned chef and pioneer of locally, sustainable food, Michael Stadtländer, came down south to downtown Toronto, to speak of the Canadian Chefs’ Congress. The main highlight of the night’s 86’d Mondays at the Drake Hotel, true to form, Chef Stadtländer inspired the big throng of foodies who attended the event as he talked about what to look forward to for Canadian Chef’s Congress 2012, to be held at Nova Scotia. I look around the room and I saw expressions of passion, hope and solidarity, supporting his cause of uplifting the Canadian food culture. He motivated the room to continually support Canadian Chefs, farmers, foragers and artisanal food producers. I am glad my friend, Abe, nudged me to go to this event. Getting that second wind came easy when I get to listen to a passionate voice and get that spark re-ignited once again.
After Chef Stadtländer’s well-received speech, 86’d Monday host Ivy Knight invited everyone to partake on the roasted lamb that Chef Stadtländer prepared for the occasion. The crowd was also indulged with freshly chucked oysters from Oyster Boy. These were the times when I feel so grateful about being able to express myself as a food-lover. As I meet more and more foodies, equally or more passionate than I am, I feel constantly inspired. This is the way to live. This is my way to go. :)
